It can be extremely dangerous to operate boiler without water. Due to the high pressure inside of the boiler, water vapour will expand and apply forces on the boiler's walls. When the design limit is exceeded, the explosion might occur. If the water level drops to the pre-set low level, the level controller will immediately shut-off and lock the burner of the boiler. Even though, burner is fixed, it still needs to be reset manually

Para evitar ocorrências tão perigosas e bloquear o queimador da caldeira em segurança, deve usar-se um limitador de alarme de nível baixo. O limitador serve para vigiar o nível mínimo de enchimento de água nas caldeiras de vapor. Se o nível da água desce abaixo do mínimo, o limitador deve desligar o queimador, para que o sobreaquecimento seja evitado antes de haver feridos ou danos na instalação. O controlador de nível autoverifica-se 52 vezes por segundo. Por isso, o controlador não precisa de botão de teste
